The Comic Book Shuffle results are IN. With a record breaking turnout for the Plainville Cliffs Con and massive amount of votes, the third place winners were Mike Finger and Keith Murphey for "Last Call". Greg Lallman and Hector Rodriguez grabbed second place for, "Untitled" leaving Chris Wrann and James Rodriguez to take first place with, "Dead Zone". This is James second return to the winners circle!

The Comic Book Shuffle 2 "Secrets" also made its debut this weekend at the Shuffle Event at Free Lunch Studios and the Plainville Cliffs Con.

We want to thank all the participants who competed in the Shuffle for really contributing to what will inevitably be a great looking book!

8 artists. 8 writers. 7 hours. The Challenge: Create a complete 5-page story on a subject chosen a random.

"Adventures in Culinary" is the result of Free Lunch Comics' first Comic Book Shuffle: randomly selected pairs of artists and writers of all skill
levels were "served" with the task to create and complete a 5-page story on a randomly-chosen topic, ready for publication.

The results will make you cancel that dinner reservation faster than a Zaggat survey of the truck stop:

- Dr. Rancidious couldn't cook, so he became a food "critic" - see what happens in the city of Scrompton;
- Louis Bourbon, Chef Detective, uses his gastronomic skills to analyze the latest plate that should've been "sent back" to the kitchen;
- The "Spatulas of Justice" rise from the shadows to break up a local fish syndicate;
- Cooking for a first date? - ever heard of Murphy's Law?; and
- Criss-cross the thin line between "cook" and "cooked"...

The countdown to Shuffle 2 is just about here! The date will be August 28th for the challenge and the 29th in Plainville CT for the judging. The Shuffle comic will be released at the Plainville show on the 29th! We already have a few confimed talents! Official announcements will begin 7/28. New twists as well!

Wow! The Free Lunch Shuffle weekend is over! I needed Monday night just to recover! Steve and I really feel the event was a overwhelming success! You all were able to complete your stories! After the vote and clean up on Sunday, we had a meeting and discussed the event and talked about things that we would try to add to streamline the 'Shuffle even more. Monday consisted of more clean up, another meeting plus a exciting feedback session from some of you participants. This was our first event like this, so I believe for a first try it went well. I know that some of you struggled with this more than others...This was an opportunity for you to rise above those challenges and overcome those hurdles. This was a new event and we knew it would hold a new set of challenges that you would not find in the 24 Hour Comic Challenge or The Comic Jam War. For a lot of you, this was the first time you would attempt anything like this...and for you to complete it I congratulate you. Would you do it again? What did you learn? What would you do differently?

Steve will be communicating with all of you for bios, interviews and more. From what we discussed, this will be a great documentary comic book. As my key role in this event comes to a close, I cannot say enough how proud I am of all of you and what you all taught me in this challenge.

Our next Shuffle event will be in August!

Join us for our first Comic Book Shuffle event! It's a little like Survivor, American Idol and 24 Hour Comic Day all rolled into one. A two day super event to get your stuff out there! Writers and artists will gather at Free Lunch Studios in Granby Ct on March 27th at 2 pm to be randomly matched up in a theme driven, 7 hour, 5 page competition.

The top team's efforts will be printed in Free Lunch's 1st Comic Book Shuffle comic book. The winner, will get the first story honor, interview, cover and cover credits. The stories will be judged at Cliff's Con in Plainville CT on March 28th by the attendees of the show (so be sure to invite your friends!)

There is a $10 entry fee. Open to the first 10 writers and first 10 artists to submit entry fee.
